About HrC

Early detection saves lives
Earlier detection changes them

Our Mission

The HrC test is a comprehensive pan‑cancer screening tool. Research shows that major cancers originate from similar stem‑cell‑driven mechanisms. By analysing Cancer Stem Cells, the HrC test can screen for more than 60 different cancers through a single blood draw.

Key advantages include:

  • The simultaneous risk assessment of several types of cancer including all the major cancers such as lung, colon, ovarian, and prostate.
  • Early detection supports timely medical evaluation and preventive strategies.
  • A single, non‑invasive blood test that enhances long‑term health planning and peace of mind.

Our mission is to support complete health protection through advanced, accurate, and proactive cancer detection.

How Our Journey Began

The revolutionary HrC technology is the result of dedicated research by a team of Indian scientists at Epigeneres Biotech (now Tzar Labs Genomics) in Mumbai, led by the late Dr. Vinay Kumar Tripathi. Based upon the research conducted by the late Dr. V K Tripathi, his sons, Anish and Ashish, set up a diagnostic laboratory in Mumbai to launch HrC, a simple blood test for the early detection of cancer. The HrC Test is named after their brother-in-law, the late Himanshu Roy, IPS. They lost him to cancer in 2018.

The journey began when Dr. V K Tripathi and his team, while evaluating a drug’s interaction with cancer pathways, noticed that the drug specifically affected a small, previously unnoticed population of cells. Upon further investigation, they realised that the cells were stem cells that had undergone an epigenetic change, creating a cancer stem cell. The scientists recognised that these cancer stem cells were the pre-cursor cells to the tumour cells that they were destined to become.

This discovery led to a profound insight: all types of cancer appear to initiate through the same fundamental mechanism. By identifying this commonality, the team developed what would become the world’s first pan-cancer blood test, The HrC Test.

Simple Blood Test for Cancer

Tzar Labs’ HrC Test has made it diagnostically possible for early detection of cancer, due to its focus on embryonic/cancer stem cells. This simple blood test, which is based on a combination of 8-10 genetic biomarkers, targets key hallmarks of cancer initiation. It is the first prognostic, non-invasive, and safe test for cancer detection, which can be taken as frequently as required.

The HrC Test - detected 25 different types of cancer in the Indian Clinical Study

Validated for 60+ Types of Cancer

The core of The HrC Test lies in its ability to detect Very Small Embryonic-like Stem Cells (VSELs).

  • The Transformation: These stem cells undergo epigenetic changes that transform them into Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs).
  • Early Mobilisation: As soon as this pathology occurs in an organ, these CSCs begin to mobilise into the bloodstream.
  • Early Detection: Mobilisation of the CSCs occurs as early as 12 to 18 months before a tumour even develops or becomes detectable by conventional imaging.
  • Advanced Analysis: As these stem cells are incredibly rare—making up only 0.025% of blood cells— Tzar Labs have developed proprietary methods to isolate and enrich the stem cells for analysis.

Annual Cancer Screening with HrC

The only way to beat cancer is to consistently monitor the disease. Cancer is a weak disease when detected early. The HrC Test offers a unique advantage: in that it is the only test that provides a clear “positive” indicator of when cancer is NOT present – the ‘Safe Zone’.

The ‘Safe Zone’ is when the result of The HrC Test indicates that the molecular markers being tracked are within the range of a healthy individual who is cancer-free, with no previous history of cancer.

An individual  identified as being in the “Safe Zone,” means that there is no immediate likelihood of developing cancer within the next 12 months.

By taking The HrC Test again in 12 months time, if cancer is detected, it will have been caught at Stage 1, or sooner, when it is more treatable offering better outcomes for patients.

The HrC Test - One Test for All Cancers

Unlike existing screening tests which tend to be cancer specific and involving intrusive and sometimes invasive sample collection methods, The HrC Test is a simple blood test that can screen for 60+ cancers encompassing solid tumours, blood cancers, and soft tissue sarcomas.

What Makes The HrC Test Different?

Unlike existing diagnostic technologies (such as PET scans, CT scans, or other liquid biopsies) that can only detect cancer once a tumour has already formed (with varying degrees of accuracy), The HrC Test detects cancer from point of initiation, with a high level of sensitivity consistent across all stages of the disease, i.e., from Stage 0 through to Stage 4.

Frequency Asked Questions

HrC is a simple blood test that helps in:

  1. Confirming the absence of cancer
  2. Indicating the risk of cancer presence (Negligible, Low, Medium, or High in asymptomatic healthy individuals)
  3. Indicating the risk of cancer recurrence (for cancer survivors)

The HrC Test identifies pre-symptomatic triggers by analysing specific markers in the blood, allowing for early risk assessment before symptoms appear.

The test tracks variations in cancer stem markers and hematopoietic stem cells to distinguish between benign and malignant growth patterns.

Anyone seeking proactive, early insight into cancer risk.

Individuals 18 years and above, with no past history of cancer or those who are cancer survivors can take the test. Individuals with family history of cancer & those with the unhealthy lifestyle – drinking, smoking or exposure to carcinogens.

The test is not recommended for:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Individuals who had surgery in the last 3 weeks
  • Those who took growth factors in the last 2 weeks
  • Individuals with an infection in the last 1 week

More than 60, including major solid tumours and blood cancers.

No, fasting is not required for the HrC test.

Yes, smokers can take the HrC test.

No, women who are breastfeeding are advised not to take the test.

The test has sensitivity above 90%.

No. It requires only a standard blood sample.

No — it complements imaging and biopsies.
